R. Delimi et al., RAMAN-STUDY OF THE KINETICS OF CHLORIDE-ORGANIC ION-EXCHANGE ACROSS AMEMBRANE, Journal of Raman spectroscopy, 26(4), 1995, pp. 313-317
The combination of Raman spectrometry and radiotracer techniques allow
ed accurate measurements of ion-exchange kinetics. The exchange of chl
oride for benzoate or benzenesulphonate ions was studied. These ions w
ere selected as models to simulate the fouling of membranes, a major i
nconvenience frequently encountered in membrane processes, especially
in bio-industries. The experimental data were compared with the theore
tical treatment proposed for two possible hypotheses, namely particle
or film diffusion.
