Abstract
In 1974, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) began to elabor ate safety standards for nuclear power plants (NUSS). They comprise th e government organization, siting, project design, operation, and qual ity assurance aspects. Quality assurance refers to specific periods of time in the operating history of a nuclear power plant and to methods . The revised version is intended to put more emphasis on active quali ty assurance. In Germany, quality assurance is based on the rules of t he Nuclear Technology Committee (KTA). KTA rule 1401 concentrates on r eactive quality assurance. The new set of IAEA regulations focuses mor e on quality assurance as a management function.
