U. Lauter et al., RIGID-ROD POLYMERS WITH REGULARLY SPACED SILICON-CENTERED PHTHALOCYANINE UNITS IN THE BACKBONE, Macromolecular rapid communications, 16(4), 1995, pp. 239-245
We describe the synthesis of new rigid rod polymers possessing a backb
one of silicon phthalocyanine units and stiff 4,4'-dioxybiphenyl or 2,
6-dioxynaphthalene spacers. These modified phthalocyaninato-polysiloxa
ne derivatives are characterised by mass, absorption and C-13-CP-MAS s
pectroscopies, differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray powder diff
ractometry. UV/VIS spectra show only slight differences to the corresp
onding phthalocyanine monomers, which indicates the absence of excited
state interactions between the chromophores within the polymer backbo
ne.
