Abstract
Medical students have performed worse in biostatistics than in other c linical disciplines because of their negative attitude towards the bio statistics course, partly caused by the use of lecturers unqualified i n biostatistics. Adoption of a step-wise teaching process, the linking of biostatistical concepts to other clinical disciplines and the malt ing of the biostatistics course examinable in all parts of the profess ional examinations for the degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelo r of Surgery would reduce the negative attitude medical students have towards the biostatistics course.
