M. Willer et A. Schweiger, DETERMINATION OF G-VALUES BY A NEW ELECTRON-SPIN TRANSIENT NUTATION EXPERIMENT - THE G-PERPENDICULAR-TO-VALUE OF TITANIUM-DOPED SAPPHIRE, Chemical physics letters, 264(1-2), 1997, pp. 1-8
It is demonstrated that electron spin transient nutation experiments c
an be used to determine the g matrix of an anisotropic spin system. Th
e procedure is based on the fact that the nutation frequencies are pro
portional to the transition moments, which in turn are functions of th
e g principal values and principal directions. The recently introduced
PEANUT sequence is shown to be particularly well suited for this purp
ose. The potential of the approach is demonstrated by the measurement
of the extremely small perpendicular g value (g(perpendicular to) = 0.
04 +/- 0.015) of titanium-doped sapphire.
