Atomic and electronic structures of coadsorbed Mg-Ba layers on the Mo(
112) surface have been studied by LEED, LEELS, CDP and UPS (hv = 8.4 e
V) techniques. A segregation of Ba atoms is found for adlayers with th
ickness beyond one monolayer, which provides a decrease of a work func
tion. The coadsorption within the first atomic layer is followed by an
effective mixing of the adatoms and no sharp structure at room temper
ature is observed.
