Ed. Resnyanskii et al., DISSOCIATIVE ADSORPTION ON ROUGH SURFACES WITH DYNAMICALLY CHANGING MORPHOLOGY - A MONTE-CARLO MODEL, Chemical physics letters, 264(1-2), 1997, pp. 174-179
A computer model based on the Monte Carlo technique for bimolecular di
ssociative adsorption on a rough surface with dynamically changing mor
phology is investigated. The model takes into account the mutual influ
ence of adsorbed particles and substrate atoms. The common regularitie
s of dissociative adsorption on the rough mobile surface in comparison
with the Langmuir isotherm are revealed. Particularly, at low tempera
tures and when the attraction between adsorbate and substrate is stron
g, metastable states with long lifetimes arise, in contrast to the cas
e of monomolecular adsorption.
