The electrocarboxylation of benzyl chloride with CO2 catalyzed by meta
lloporphyrins and the effects of different kinds of central metals and
ligands on catalytic activities are reported firstly in this research
ing range. Metallopophyrins whose central metal can form corresponding
M (I) complex compoundes such as CoTPP, FeTPP possess higher activiti
es of catalyzation. Metalloporphyrins with water-soluble ligands such
as (Co, Fe)TPPS, (Co, Fe)TTMAPPI are better catalysts. Electron-withdr
awing groups on the rings of porphyrins cause the lowing of metallopor
phyrinscatalytic activities.
