Abstract
Using the crossed beams method, the differential cross sections (DCS) of elastic scattering of metastable Rg (Rg = He, Ar, Kr and Xe) atoms by Mg atoms have been measured for the first time. It is found that t he DCS for all partners possess nearly exponential behavour. The struc ture at the intermediate scattering angles is attributed to the rainbo w scattering.
