The spectral and kinetic parameters of the intrinsic luminescence or N
aMgF3 and RbMgF3 single crystals under X-ray pulse excitation (Delta t
= 1 - 5 ns) in the temperature range of 77 to 295 K are investigated.
In spite of the fact that the lattice parameters allow the existence
of the off-centre self-trapped excitons (STE) the spectral coincidence
of the fast (tau(sigma) greater than or similar to 10(-9)) and slow (
tau(pi) similar to 10(-6) s) decay time components is found. This show
s that the slightly divided single-triple STE states are the initial o
nes in the radiative transitions.
