Mg. Newman et Mk. Mcguire, EVIDENCE-BASED PERIODONTAL TREATMENT .2. PREDICTABLE REGENERATION TREATMENT, The International journal of periodontics & restorative dentistry, 15(2), 1995, pp. 117-127
Clinical experience, technical ability and intuition are indispensable
but are no longer sufficient as the sole clinical skills necessary to
provide the best outcomes from periodontal and peri-implant regenerat
ion treatment. This article describes a comprehensive and rigorous met
hodologic framework to assess the available evidence contained within
the literature. This assessment fool is referred to as the evidence-ba
sed method The methodology was used by a series of task forces convene
d to evaluate three common areas of clinical regenerative treatment. T
he major goals of these task forces were: (1) to increase the strength
of the inference that practitioners can derive from the base of knowl
edge contained within the literature, (2) to develop algorithms to imp
rove the predictability of regeneration treatment, and (3) to determin
e methods that can be used to predictably transfer the value of therap
y to the patient.
