Abstract
Intracerebral causes for seizures include infarcts and hemorrhages, in flammations, trauma, hydrocephalus, tumors, thiaminedeficiency and sto rage diseases. Diagnosis and therapy of these diseases differ from the treatment of the idiopathic epilepsy, which is the most common cause for intracerebral seizure disorders. The idiopathic epilepsy is probab ly caused by a metabolic, congenital disfunction of the brain. Longtim e treatment is usually necessary to treat seizures successfully. Treat ment of choice in the dog is phenobarbital. Other drugs such as primid one and potassium bromide may be indicated.
