Disposable amperometric sensors for hydrazines have been fabricated by
a judicious tailoring of the surface of screen-printed electrodes. St
rong electrocatalytic action towards the oxidation of hydrazines is ac
hieved by incorporating cobalt phthalocyanine within the carbon inks o
r by covering the printed surface with a mixed valent ruthenium cyanid
e coating. The electrocatalytic behavior, sensor optimization and anal
ytical performance are reported. The new sensor strips should facilita
te on-site environmental and industrial monitoring of hydrazine compou
nds.
