In 1992, a questionnaire was sent to the graduates who entered the Vet
erinary College of Nantes. It was about their professionnal situation,
elective course at the College and post-graduate curriculum. This sur
vey concerns students beginning their curriculum between 1979 (foundat
ion year of the college) and 1987 (n = 1109). The purpose of the surve
y was descriptive. The analysis was based on 560 answers. The sample w
as structured like the target population during scolarship with respec
t to three criterions : year of admission, sex and elective course. In
this sample, professional status were more stable in graduates who en
tered the College in the early years. They were distributed between <<
small animal exclusive>> (31 p. cent), <<small animal predominent>> (1
5 p. cent), <<balanced small/large animal>> (6 p. cent), <<large anima
l predominent>> (15 p. cent), <<others>> : large animal exclusive, equ
ine exclusive, intensive animal productions, other mixed (7 p cent), <
<administrative employment>> (16 p. cent) and <<industrial employment>
> (16 p. cent). Female professionals are more attracted by canine prac
tice and administrative employment. A large diversity of post-graduate
curiculum are recorded. They concerned especially administrative and
industrial employments.
