Abstract
Close-coupled scattering calculations of binary diffusion and shear vi scosity coefficients have been made for H-H-2 mixtures. Cross sections obtained from these scattering calculations give directly the binary diffusion coefficient in its lowest kinetic theory approximation. Addi tional data are required for the calculation of the shear viscosity. A ppropriate cross sections for pure H-2 have been obtained from experim ent, while those for H have been calculated. Binary diffusion and visc osity coefficients have been calculated for H-H-2 mixtures for the tem perature range 40-2200 K. The value D-H2-H = 2.13 cm(2) s(-1) obtained at 295 K is in excellent agreement with experiment.
