Abstract
The authors report the first case of a simple testicular cyst presenti
ng in a neonate. Diagnostic criteria are outlined and theories concern
ing etiology are discussed, The authors show an absence of elastin sta
ining in the specimen, and suggest this precludes germinal tubules as
a source. The rationale for testicular-sparing surgery is discussed. C
