Many chemotherapeutic protocols used in veterinary medicine are capabl
e of inducing a rapid remission in newly diagnosed patients; however,
the ability to effectively treat these animals once out of remission i
s significantly impaired. Even with recent advancements in the treatme
nt of various cancers with chemotherapeutic agents, most patients rela
pse and succumb to their disease because of the development of resista
nce to chemotherapeutic agents.
