Abstract
Communication: The study of well-defined, monodisperse model PPP oligo mers (e.g. see Figure) has revealed that, contrary to expectations, th e planarization of the re sq stem in these oligomers leads to a decrea se in the effective conjugation length. This result has profound influ ence on the design of conducting organic materials.
