Abstract
Micropellets of pentazocine hydrochloride, an opioid analgesic, were p repared using Eudragit RS100 and ethylcellulose, and the effects of in corporating polyethylene glycol 4000 in the micropellet matrices were studied. Polyethylene glycol 4000 was found to exert profound effects on drug release from the micropellets, and also influenced release kin etics. The mechanisms of drug release and kinetics are discussed in th e present work. Ethylcellulose/polyethylene glycol 4000 formulations s howed good potential for further work.
