RESULTS OF AFTERCARE FOR POSTAPOPLECTIC A ND POSTTRAUMATIC SEQUELAE IN THE BRAIN AND PERIPHERAL NERVOUS-SYSTEM

The authors summarize 20-year experience in the aftercare of 16088 pat ients with aftereffects of brain apoplexy or trauma, diseases of the p eripheral nervous system. The treatment was performed in special inpat ient and outpatient aftercare centres in the city of St.Petersburg. Th e above treatment was designed as step-by-step complex programs adjust ed for individual personality, occupation, etiological and neurologica l characteristics, etc. Multiple modalities were imployed, involving p sychological, social, occupational and biological approaches. As shown by 3-5-year follow-up, the programms brought considerable clinical an d social benefit.
