The drug encorat, an analogue of valproic acid (Sun, India) was given
to 16' children aged from 4 month to 5 years suffering from resistant
forms of early infantile epilepsy. Twelve of them had infantile spasms
, four Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. The treatment produced good results in
75% of the patients. Encorat mono- or polychemotherapy is able to dis
continue or decrease the frequency of the epileptic fits, improve the
patients' condition in resistant early childhood epilepsy.
