With the neutron and gamma spectra and the ratio of their intensities
taking place in fission reactors, neutrons predominantly create defect
s which are annealed by gamma-quanta. These main characteristics of ir
radiation vary in different reactors as well as results of their influ
ence on irradiating materials. Always accompanying neutron radiation,
gamma-quanta transform the spectrum of defects in such a way that spec
trum leading edge is determined by the irradiation temperature. The in
tensity of gamma-radiation in fusion reactor is considerably lower tha
n that in fission reactors so that defect accumulation rate seems to b
e greater in the first case.
