C. Aspin et al., HIGH-SPATIAL-RESOLUTION SHIFT-AND-ADD IMAGING AT UKIRT - MULTIPLICITYAMONGST YOUNG STELLAR OBJECTS, Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 284(2), 1997, pp. 257-264
We present results from near-infrared 'shift-and-add' imaging at UKIRT
using the upgraded near-infrared imaging camera, IRCAM3, and new cont
rol electronics, ALICE. Commissioning data on 12 sources in the Ophiuc
hus dark cloud complex are described. All but one source have previous
ly been studied using 2D speckle imaging. We compare the results obtai
ned by the two techniques and demonstrate that 'shift-and-add' imaging
with IRCAM3 can produce results comparable to those obtained by the 2
D speckle technique. We additionally discuss both the current imaging
quality of UKIRT and its predicted performance after the planned therm
al, dynamical and optical upgrades.
