Chlorophyll form at 710-712 nm localized on the sm;lll protein simulta
neously connected with RC I and - polypeptides LHC-1 polypeptides is s
upposed to be the source of longwavelength band of low-temperature flu
orescence of chloroplasts at 735-740 nm. Chloroplasts of intermittentl
y irradiated seedlings (or chloroplasts of Ch1 b-less barley mutant) d
o not differ from chloroplasts of continuously irradiated seedlings (o
r chloroplasts of wild type barley) in the set of Ch1 a and B-carotene
forms and their orientation iii the membrane. It is shown that compet
ition for the newly synthesized Ch1 a molecules occurs between RC PS I
I and LHC-II polypeptides.
