Frame front visualization is important for the understanding of combus
tion phenomena. In this study, a new optical diagnostic method is pres
ented (C-2 spontaneous emission spectroscopy). This method is applied
to alaminar premixed methane-air flame and the results are compared wi
th the OH laser induced fluorescence optical diagnostic method. C-2 sp
ectroscopy appears to be a more accurate method than OH LIF in the loc
ation of the flame front.
