Abstract
The aim of the study was to determine the prognostic value of clinical and anamnestic data for recording initial hip pathology with respect to ultrasound. Methods: From a hip screening program of many years, th e clinical findings, the anamnestic risk factors as well as the sonogr ams (following Graf's method) of 8824 non-selected neonates were evalu ated retrospectively. Results: By means of extensive statistical calcu lations, no close correlations between sonographic results and so-call ed clinical or anamnestic risk factors could be found. Conclusions: Th is, once again, underlines the necessity for the general introduction of a sonographic hip screening on all neonates.
