Abstract
Condensation of 1,2-diaminopyridinium iodides with tris(dimethylamino) phosphine gives [1,2,4,3]triazaphospholo[1,5-a]pyridines 2a-d. Diethyl amine adds to the N=P bond of 2a, b only if the phosphorus is oxidized at the same time. Hydrolysis of 2a opens the triazaphosphole ring at its 2,3-bond.
