Js. Nigen et Ch. Amon, EFFECT OF MATERIAL COMPOSITION AND LOCALIZED HEAT-GENERATION ON TIME-DEPENDENT CONJUGATE HEAT-TRANSPORT, International journal of heat and mass transfer, 38(9), 1995, pp. 1565-1576
Time-dependent conjugate conduction/convection direct numerical simula
tions of four rib configurations that differ in material composition a
nd distribution of internal heat generation are conducted in laminar a
nd transitional grooved-channel flows. The effect of material composit
ion, concentration of heal generation and flow regime on the spatial d
istribution of temperature, heat flux and Nusselt number along the sol
id-fluid interface is investigated. Furthermore, the distribution of i
nternal heat generation is found to affect strongly the convective res
istance at the solid-fluid interface of the rib, leading to a nonmonot
onic relationship between convective heat transport and Reynolds numbe
r for the range of parameters investigated in the configurations with
local heat generation.
