Abstract
Adenosine monophosphate, inosine monophosphate, inosine, adenosine, gu anosine, adenine, guanine, hypoxanthine, xanthine, uric acid, and pyri midines bases were determined in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of 52 child ren after simple febrile seizures and in a control group of 63 childre n. There was no statistically significant difference between the two g roups for any of these metabolites, suggesting that simple febrile sei zures (SFS) neither significantly disturb the metabolism of nucleotide s, nucleosides, or bases nor significantly deplete neuron adenosine AT P levels. Therefore, they do not appear to constitute a threat of neur onal damage.
