Abstract
We have developed a MD-DATA drive unit based on the Mini Disc (MD) tha t has a small size and a large capacity. Since the unit has very thin thickness of 19 mm height and interfaces to a personal computer via ID E, we can easily load it into notebook personal computer or other port able equipments. In this paper, we describe the structure and the feat ures of the unit, the newly developed LSIs, the interface technology, and the standard of MD-DATA system.
