Kg. Gotestam et al., DOES PLACEBO GIVE MORE PROTECTION AGAINST RELAPSE IN SCHIZOPHRENIA THAN NO DRUG, The European journal of psychiatry, 9(1), 1995, pp. 58-62
These is a voluminous literature documenting responses to placebo trea
tment and the variables that influence that response. The argument is
that the placebo response is a conditional response and this explanato
ry model is here applied to explain why so few patients with schizophr
enia relapse during the placebo regime (after withdrawal of the active
drug).
