J. Vazquezdoval et al., BOWENS-DISEASE WITH AMYLOID DEPOSIT ON THE PALMAR SURFACE OF A FINGER, EJD. European journal of dermatology, 5(2), 1995, pp. 145-147
We present the case of a 49-year-old surgeon who had an erythematous l
esion on the palmar aspect of the proximal phalanx of the second finge
r of the right hand. Histology showed it to be a Bowen's disease with
secondary amyloidosis in the superficial dermis. The amyloid deposits
were negative for cytokeratins AE1/AE3 and Cam 5.2 We discuss the rela
tionship between Bowen's disease and secondary amyloidosis. We also po
int out that our case is the second one reported in the literature con
cerning Bowen's disease and secondary amyloidosis on the palms of the
hands.
