Abstract
The thermal effects occurring during heating of the powder mixtures Cu -Ni, Ni -Mn, V-Ti, Al-Si, Ni-C, Ni-Cr, Ni-Re, Ni-Pb, and AI-PE, were i nvestigated using differential thermal analysis. It was shown that con tact melting in systems with a simple phase diagram (without intermedi ate compounds) occurred without exothermic effects, and the observed e ndothermic effects were in accord with the phase equilibrium diagram. The mechanism of contact melting was in agreement with the diffusional theory of contact melting.
