A numerical model is proposed for the cyclic life of a structurally in
homogeneous powder material. The model is based on the mechanics of st
ructurally inhomogeneous deformable media. The finite-element method h
as been used to solve the boundary-value problem for deformation and f
ailure in a microscopically inhomogeneous material under a external lo
ad. The simulation indicates the effects of structural microscopic inh
omogeneities (pores and solid inclusions) on the fatigue characteristi
cs of PK-100N4M powder low-alloy steel, and die fatigue working-life c
urve is derived.
