Abstract
Na[eta(5)-CpFe(CO)(2)] reacts with SiMe(2)Cl(2) (2:1 molar ratio) in T HF at similar to 0 degrees C to give the iron-silicon cluster complex [(eta(5)-CP)(4)Fe-4(CO)(2)(SiMe(2))(2)] (II) in addition to the simple complex [eta(5)-CpFe(Co)(2)](2)SiMe(2) (I). The complex (II) has a te trahedral framework of four iron atoms with bridging CO and SiMe(2) un its and the structure is highly symmetrical.
