AN INFORMATION MODEL AS A BASIS FOR HYPERMEDIA-BASED PLANT DOCUMENTATION

This paper addresses the production, use, and maintainability of hyper media-based on-line documentation in industrial plants. The proposed m ethod for addressing all these issues is the utilisation of an informa tion model. This paper describes how an information model can be used for structuring the documentation, for automatic generation of hyperte xt links, and as a basis for the design of user interfaces that suppor t information retrieval. The tools for modelling and automatic link ge neration are briefly described. Two case studies utilizing the WWW for the implementation of on-line documentation are discussed.
