This paper discusses the object-oriented design paradigm versus the tr
aditional applications development model, in the context of software r
euse. The features of the Ada(1) language are explored, with particula
r emphasis on the aspects that promote reuse and that make Ada 9X - th
e successor to Ada 83 - an increasingly sound choice for developing an
d maintaining large, embedded, object-oriented applications for real-t
ime control.
