Abstract
Onychomycosis is a common condition, particularly among men and the el derly. The management of onychomycosis can be divided into topical and oral antifungal agents and surgical therapy. During the past few year s, three new oral antimycotics-itraconazole, terbinafine, and fluconaz ole-have had increasing use for the treatment of onychomycosis. These agents have a favorable adverse effect profile and appear to be more c ost-effective than griseofulvin. They have resulted in the shortening of the treatment duration for onychomycosis, particularly pedal diseas e.
