The Gibbs phase rule and thermodynamic properties of the working pair
limit the choice of operating temperatures. For any combination of tem
peratures, the concentrations in the absorber and the generator and he
nce the flow ratios are fixed. For any particular working pair, the co
efficient of performance is related to the how ratio. Tables of possib
le combinations of operating temperatures and concentrations, includin
g flow ratios, Carnot coefficients of performance and enthalpy based c
oefficients of performance have been presented for water-carrol (lithi
um bromide-ethylene glycol) absorption systems for heating. The intera
ctions of operating temperatures have been illustrated graphically.
