Abstract
Classical burster models are based on a fast system that either oscill ates or is quiescent, depending on temporarily fixed values of slow va riables. In a study of the lobster heart ganglion, we found a new type of burster for which the fast system is globally stable for all relev ant fixed values of the slow variables. We describe how this burster w orks and speculate on its biological significance.
