A procedure for an automatically controlled calibration of a network a
nalyzer is presented. The basic element is a switching network to real
ize the calibration standards, the switching network forms a part of t
he analyzer. To characterize the relative scattering parameters of the
switching network an application of an occasional precalibration is n
ecessary. In contrast to commercially available procedures like TRM th
e effort of the new calibration technique is decreased. The measuremen
t results are as accurate as using the TRM method.
