Abstract
droxybenzyl-N-hydroxylamine)-1,3-diarylpropen-l-ol (1) on treatment wi th hydroxylamine hydrochloride, sodium acetate and acetone gives hydro xyimino-N-(1'-methylethylidene)-1-propylamine N-oxide (2). The structu re of 2 has been confirmed by X-ray analysis. The nitrones (2) have be en converted into 3,5-diarylisoxazolines (3) in good yields in the pre sence of polyphosphoric acid.
