1-(6-Methoxyindanylideneaminoxy)-2, 3-epoxypropane (3) on treatment wi
th 3-mercapto-5-substituted-s-triazoles in methanol gives 1-(6-methoxy
indanylideneaminoxy)- 3- (5-aryl-s-triazol- 3 -ylmercapto)propan-2-ols
(10a,b). Similarly compounds 1-(4-methoxybenzylideneaminoxy)-2,3-epox
ypropane (6) and 1-(tetralinylideneaminoxy)-2,3-epoxypropane (9) on tr
eatment with 3-merapto-5-substituted-s-triazoles in methanol furnish 1
-(4-methoxybenzylideneaminoxy)- 3 -(5-aryl-s-triazol-3-ylmercapto)prop
an-2-ols (11a-d) and 1-(tetralinylideneaminoxy)- 3 -(5-aryl- s -trazol
- 3 -ylmercapto)propane-2-ols (12a-d) respectively. Compounds 10, 11 a
nd 12 have been tested for hypotensive activity on normotensive anaest
hetised rats. Compound 10a show better hypotensive activity whereas co
mpounds 11b, 11c, 12d show very mild activity.
