DETERMINATION OF SOME SYMPATHOMIMETIC AGENTS AT MILLIGRAM LEVELS

A quick and convenient method for milligram level determination of som e sympathomimetic agents has been described. Samples containing 1-5 mg of the compound are reacted with excess of Fe(III) (0.1N) reagent for 15-30 min at 50-degrees-C. The unused reagent is determined by iodome tric titration. The determination of epinephrine, norepinephrine, dopa mine, epimine, tyramine, isoxuprine, nylidrin, hydroxy amphetamine in the pure form and in the pharmaceutical preparations has been carried out within 1% error. The authenticity of the method has been verified by performing recovery experiment. For every sample % error, CV and SD values are calculated.
