Abstract
An analogy is established between the methods for designing an optical system to first and third order. While in the last one the aberration s are calculated from the structure parameters of the optical system, in this paper a method is developed where the starting point is a set of proposed aberrations, and from those values the structure parameter s of the optical system are calculated. In order to develope the last method, the theory of Yamaji [1] was used, however new results were ob tained for the case of a single lens and an achromatic cemented double t.
