Three cases of upper gastrointestinal perforation affecting the stomac
h, duodenum, and jejunum, respectively, are described. Each occurred i
n premature infant with oesophageal atresia and tracheo-oesophageal fi
stula on ventilatory support. In each case there was a delay in diagno
sis. All infants survived. The management options and current opinion
on the treatment of this difficult problem are discussed.
