The utility of amphiphilic pyrrole monomers to elaborate stable organi
c-phase polymers containing enzyme is described. Four amphiphilic pyrr
ole monomers differing in the size of their ammonium groups were appli
ed to the immobilization of a preadsorbed enzyme-monomer coating. The
performances of the different biosensors towards the detection of cate
chol, 4-tert-butylcatechol and phenol have been examined in either anh
ydrous or wet chloroform solutions.
