Abstract
The formation of mixed adsorbed layers has been tested for several ter nary mixtures containing a specifically adsorbed component, ketone or benzene, and a binary solvent, benzene + n-heptane or n-heptane + cycl ohexane. The specific excess adsorption isotherms in the liquid phase were measured on silica gel at 298 K. The experimental adsorption data are discussed on the basis of changes in the mixed solvent compositio n. These changes and adsorption capacity data indicate the formation o f multilayer and mixed surface phases.
