C. Hirayama et al., LIQUID-CHROMATOGRAPHIC SEPARATION OF GEOMETRICAL ISOMERS USING SPHERICAL CARBON PACKINGS PREPARED FROM SPHERICAL CELLULOSE PARTICLES, Journal of liquid chromatography, 18(8), 1995, pp. 1509-1520
The packings of spherical carbon beads were prepared by graphitizing t
he spherical cellulose particles. A types of carbon spherical packings
were obtained by various degrees of graphitization. These packings we
re characterized by examining their chromatographic properties. The hi
gher the degree of graphitization is, the higher the pi-electron recog
nition became, although there was no change in the selection for a met
hylene group. The mechanism for recognizing the pi-electron and the st
eric selectivity is described and discussed.
