Abstract
New photochromic 2,2-diphenyl-[2H]-chromenes 1-6 annellated with nitro genated six-membered ring have been synthetized by optimized reaction of suitable metal phenolates and beta-phenyl cinnamaldehyde. All compo unds exhibit photochromic behavior at room temperature. Chemical yield s and photochromic characteristics depend significantly on the relativ e position of annellation on the chromenic moiety.
